We realize there are many decisions to be made, and many factors to be considered in planning your event. You may bring any family members you like along to the private consultation. Should you attend a consultation, a recording of your Bridal Dance will be provided to assist with dance lessons. Expect the consultation to take approximately 1 hour.

Bridal Dance

Serenade can perform your special song on the night, as well as discuss any special requirements you may have for preparing any dance choreography you may have. Our special private consultation is an ideal forum for this.

Travel Expenses

Serenade frequently travels throughout Victoria. Functions outside the Melbourne Metropolitan area will, of course, incur travel expenses.
 

Equipment & Venue

Every venue has it's own unique acoustic, and we always do our best to tailor our sound to your venue.
 
There are a number of factors to consider, such as sound and lighting, and requirements for these will vary depending on the size of your venue, the number of guests, and the number of musicians you would like.
 
Large venues may require additional sound and lighting, so feel free to ask us about options.
 

Traditional Music

We can accommodate traditional music at your function. Ask us about options - we can play your iPod or CDs with a pre-prepared playlists of traditional music, and we frequently share the stage with live traditional bands.
 

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. "How Much Do You Cost?"

While we understand that this is almost always the first question asked, surprisingly enough, it's not always a straightforward question to answer.
 
Our price depends on a number of factors:
 
a) Where the venue is. (ie. how much travelling time is involved)
 
b) What type of equipment we need to bring. Our PA system will cater for a medium sized room of up to around 100 - 200 people. If the venue is rather large, or there are many more people attending a function, we may need to hire additional equipment.
 
c) The call time (amount of sets required, etc).
 
d) What time we need to set up by. Sometimes we will charge accordingly if, for example, we need to make two trips to a venue because they need us to be set up early in the day, but come back to play that evening.

e) Any special requirements you may have. For example, we enjoy offering you the option of hand-choosing a favourite song for your Bridal Waltz, or for ceremony music. Sometimes your song may be within our repertoire, and sometimes this may involve additional preparation time.
 
The best thing to do is contact us and give us the details of your function and we can then give you a price based on those details.

2. "How Long Do You Play For?"

As a general 'rule of thumb', most functions allow for three sets of music, being approximately 45 minutes duration (3 x 45 minute sets).

However, we make a point of tailoring our music to suit the "flow" of your event, including liaising with your venue manager to ensure our music fits with meal times and other formalities such as speeches. Feel free to contact us about your event.


3. "May We Use Your Microphone and PA For Speeches?"

Yes, we are more than happy to provide our equipment for speeches. We are also happy to say we use cordless microphones, which means you may conduct speeches in the traditional way (from a lectern), or from different points in the room (for example, for elderly guests who may wish to deliver their speech from their dining chair).

All we ask is that you ask us ahead of time, so that we can have it ready to go for you when the crucial moment in the evening arrives!
 
4. Can I See Serenade Perform Before Making My Decision?

Certainly! We provide fortnightly private viewing opportunities (by appointment), to give any prospective clients a chance to see us live. At these private viewing evenings, we welcome a chance to have a chat with you and answer any questions you may have, so please don't be shy - come and say hello, and contact us to make an appointment!

5. Should I See Serenade Perform Before Making My Decision?
 
You are most welcome to, however it's not necessary to come to a private viewing, especially if you do not live close by. Our website is designed to give you all the information you need to make your decision. In fact, we regularly take bookings directly off our website, from interstate and overseas couples who are marrying in Melbourne, as well as from busy people who do not have time to attend a performance on a weeknight.

Once a booking is confirmed, there is a lot of communication between you and the band, both by email and phone, and plenty of opportunity to discuss music choices and any other details concerning the function. We are always readily available to speak to  you and assist you with any queries you may have.
